BMW ActiveHybrid: Combines Efficiency and Performance

Performance oriented, well-equipped, but most importantly environmentally-friendly, hybrid cars are gaining popularity nowadays and are taking a large chunk of car buyers. When it comes to the hybrid’s engine, it is a mix of 4.4 liter V8 turbocharged engine and also runs on an electric motor that is powered by a trunk-mounted lithium battery. They both pumped a mind-boggling 455hp and 515lb-ft torque, with its power routed to the rear of the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It also sprints from 0 to 60mph in 4.7 seconds flat, and has a combined fuel economy of 20mpg.

The new BMW ActiveHybrid comes in two distinct variants including the 750i and its extended wheel-base version, 750Li. These high-end hybrids also include two more up class hybrids including the ActiveHybrid 3 and the Activehybrid 5, which are both released as 2012 editions.
